Today I want to share with you this edition that my daughter gave me
which she precisely bought in Japan. I hope everyone likes it because in my opinion it is the best edition so far even though it is direct from Laserdisc to DVD.

The DVD menu is extraordinary and contains a curious and very elaborate Trailer.

really DVD? not laser disc?

ok, so this is a redone from a saved laser disc into dvdr in 2006
That time, it wasn't edited-cropped a bit to cut vhs areas not processed on laser disc (a left vertical line and a bottom horizontal one)
This is edited ok, but quality is not better than a VHS as no laser disc was ever released with quality over or at least equal with vhs
Laser discs were nice as design and worth only for some preservation, content being digital.
After them free technology started video cds, a very shit period limited by digital formats and softs, as mp3s destroyed already limited 1411kps as uncompressed wav.
So it is a DVDr, which won't ever has something to do with Japan, USA or any such countries.

I keep this edition in the three formats in which this recording was released: VHS, VCD and Laserdisc. The LD had a sharper image, with a horizontal resolution of 400 lines for NTSC and 440 lines for PAL, while the VHS only had 240 lines or the S-VHS which reached 420 lines in 1987. It could interpret both analog and digital audio while VHS could only analog. Furthermore, since it was an optical format, it did not require contact between the reader and the disc, so it did not wear out or suffer damage, unlike what happened with video tapes.

Regarding the origin of the DVD, my daughter bought it in Japan and it came sealed from the factory and the disc does not indicate DVD-R at all and I am aware that it is not official but it is an interesting edition due to its quality until something better comes out.

The Lost Performances, there are several DVD editions that were released by Star and other publishers. I have been able to compare and for me this is the one with the best image quality. If anyone thinks that the VHS version is better, go ahead because I already shared the VCD edition a long time ago and you can compare the image qualities.
